Module 2 · Lesson 2 of 4
The Two-Minute Start
Starting is the hardest part of everything, so we make the start ridiculously small. You have full permission to stop after two minutes (you probably won't).
Ask anyone who's ever done anything hard: the middle is fine, the end is great, and the start is awful. Starting carries all the dread. So we cheat — we make the start so small it can't scare you.
Set a timer for two minutes and begin your shrunken task. That's the whole assignment. And here's the deal I make with every student: you have full, guilt-free permission to stop when the timer dings. Really. Walk away, no shame.
Here's what usually happens instead: you keep going. Because starting was the hard part, and you're already past it. Motion beats motivation every single time — but if you do stop at two minutes, that still counts. Beginning counts. Write that down somewhere.
Your Now-Step
Set a timer for two minutes and just begin. That's it. Beginning counts.
A moment to reflect
What did your tiny win teach you about what you're actually capable of?
Private — these notes never leave your device.
“Keep going.”
